Setting Up Membership Levels

X-Cart shopping cart software makes it possible for you to define various membership levels for the customers, providers and administrators of your store. Membership levels for customers are commonly used in marketing to attract and stimulate customers to register with your shop and buy more. Customers can sign up for a desired membership level using their 'Profile details' form. They need to be approved by the store admin to actually get this level. Membership levels for administrators and providers are used to control access permissions for different groups of administrators and providers. Special membership levels for administrators and providers are also granted by the admin.

When you install X-Cart it already has several built-in membership levels:

  1. For customers:
    Premium - You can use this level for advertising purposes. Encourage your customers to sign up for Premium membership by offering some special savings or products.
    Wholesale - Use this membership level for your wholesale customers. Please refer to the topic Advanced Product Management->Setting Wholesale Prices in the 'Managing Products and Orders (Provider)' section of this manual  for information about setting up wholesale prices.

  2. For providers:
    Root provider - This type of provider can view/delete/modify products of all the providers, but he cannot see their order details.

  3. For administrators:
    Fulfillment staff -  This type of administrator has access only to the statistics and orders.

If necessary, these membership levels can be renamed or deleted.

Note. Fulfillment staff membership level in X-Cart GOLD cannot be renamed or deleted.

You can also define custom membership levels for your store.

To define a new membership level:

  1. Click on Membership levels in the Administration menu. Choose the appropriate 'Membership levels' form (customer, provider or admin).

  2. Enter the new membership level name into the field next to the Add new button.

  3. Click on Add new.

To rename a membership level:

  1. Click on Membership levels in the Administration menu. Find in one of the 'Membership levels' forms the name of the membership level that you would like to change.

  2. Change the membership level name.

  3. Click on Update.

To delete a membership level:

  1. Click on Membership levels in the Administration menu. Find in one of the 'Membership levels' forms the name of the membership level that you would like to delete.

  2. Select the check box next to the name of the membership level you want to delete.

  3. Click on Delete selected.
