PGP Options

PGP stands for Pretty Good Privacy and is encryption software used to encrypt data for security purposes when the data is transmitted over the Internet.  PGP uses public key encryption, a system that provides for privacy and authentication of both the sender and the receiver of the message. If you choose to include order details (credit card information) into admin order notification messages, you are likely to need a tool for encrypting data sent to the store admin  via email. In this case PGP can be a good solution.

If you selected PGP to be used as an encryption method for your emails (General settings ->Security options), set PGP options.

To set PGP options:

  1. Click on General settings in the Administration menu, select PGP options from the section menu.

  2. Fill in the fields below:

Home path: Enter the path to PGP home directory where PGP configuration file and keyrings are stored.

Note. All the files in this directory must belong to the user under which PGP is running (usually Web server), and have permissions UNIX 0600, directory must have permissions 0700

PGP binary path: Enter the path to PGP executable.

PGP user id: Enter your user ID (an ASCII string used to identify a user).

PGP public key: Paste the public key that will be used to encrypt your data (After you click on the Save button, it will be automatically added to your public keyring).

Use PGP version 6: Select the check box if you are using PGP version 6.

  1. Click on Save.

More information about PGP is available at http://www.pgpi.org/doc/
