Defining states

The 'States Management' section of X-Cart enables you to create lists of states for the countries that you made 'active' for your store. State codes are used for the inner processes of the shopping cart. State names appear in the list of states on the user registration form and are used for setting up destination zones.

To access the 'States Management' section, click on States in the Management menu.

If more than one country was activated for your store, use the country name link on top of the 'States' form to select the country the states of which you want to be listed.

Note. 'Counties' column appears in the table only when 'Use counties' check box is selected in General settings -> General options.

Adding a new state to the list
  1. Click on States in the Management menu. The 'States' form will appear.

  2. Scroll down to the Add new state section.

  3. Enter the state code.

  4. Enter the name of the state.

  5. From the drop-down list select the country to which the state should be added.

  6. Click on Add state.  

Note. The system sorts states alphabetically. To find the state you have added scroll to the corresponding letter.

Editing a state
  1. Click on States in the Management menu. The 'States' form will appear.

  2. Change the code and the name of the state.

  3. Click on Update to save the changes.

Deleting states
  1. Click on States in the Management menu. The 'States' form will appear.

  2. Select the check boxes in the DELETE column next to the states you want to be deleted. You can use the Check all / Uncheck all links to select or unselect all the check boxes on the current  page.

  3. Click on Delete selected.

Defining counties

If you want to enable your customers to use 'County' select boxes in the address sections of their profile details form, you need to select 'Use counties' check box in General settings -> General options, activate 'County' field on the user profile details form in General settings -> User Profiles options and set up counties for the states activated for your store.

The COUNTIES column of the table in the 'States' form shows the actual number of counties defined for each state. Before any counties are defined, the COUNTIES column shows n/a opposite each state name.

To define counties for some state, click the link in the COUNTIES column opposite this state. The 'Counties Management' section will be opened.

Use the 'Add new county' section of the 'Counties' form to add names of counties: enter a name into the appropriate box and click on Add. The county will be added to the list above. You can add as many counties for each state as needed.

You can edit the names of the added counties: just change the spelling of a name in the list and click on Update.

To delete a county, select the check box opposite its name in the DELETE column, then click on Delete selected.
